A staple for any worthy cigar shop is a tasting event. Think of it as a single vendor fair. A representative from a cigar company will come in and offer their cigars at special pricing like Buy 3 Get 1 Free or deeper discounts on boxes. If the cigar shop offers a discount program for regular customers then you get that discount too.
The event can also offer complimentary drinks (beer, wine, colas and water) and on occasion will have a tasting of a scotch or whiskey. The better events will have a food sample and a raffle for specialty items like ashtrays or shirts or other items that compliment (and advertise) the cigar company highlighted at the event.
The tasting event gives the common cigar lover a chance to chat and learn about the brand and cigars in general from a trained and experienced member of the particular company. Feel free to test their knowledge and ask questions. They will appreciate the attention.

Partagas 1845 is a new take on a brand that started in 1845. Their theme is Heritage Rewrapped. I have not had a Partagas in some time. I seem to remember they are a little above my price point. Hopefully one of these two events will offer discounts above my standard 10% off with my Up In Smoke Discount Card.
